  • Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra live in Colten Care home garden

Music to our New Forest ears Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra performs live - in a Colten Care home garden! Ed Note: When orchestral players from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra turned up to perform at a Colten home, they didn’t expect the audience of residents to include a former BSO leader – so they were definitely kept on their toes! A rather lovely story in ongoing challenging times for live events, for the New Forest and everywhere! Ex-BSO leader Brendan enjoys ‘great pleasure’ of care home concert    It’s not every day you have the chance to see and hear professional orchestral players performing live in your own garden. Game, set and match to Bella Missing Wimbledon? Tennis has moved on to the next tournament! Ed Note: A Colten Care story not strictly within the New Forest but delightfully relevant to our times and once again demonstrating the love and tenderness with which carers and nurses, companions and chefs alike all treat the residents in their care. ‘Game, set and match’ to Bella   Forget Wimbledon, the place to be for enthralling racket and ball action this summer is clearly a Bournemouth care home. Eight tennis-loving residents at Colten Care’s Avon Cliff competed in their own in-house version of the iconic tournament, including mixed doubles matches and a grand final involving the best two players.      The home’s lounge was

Lymington is a pretty Georgian market town in the south of the New Forest. The town's sheltered position on the western bank of the beautiful Lymington river has made it an important settlement since the Iron Age. For many years Lymingtonians have made their living from the sea or the river - as boatbuilders, fishermen, sailors and in past centuries as salt workers and even smugglers! Today Lymington is an internationally famous yachting centre with a population of almost 17,500.

It’s not surprising that Lymington is one of the “Best UK Coastal Towns in Which to Live”. Combined with accessible road and rail links north to London, west to Bournemouth and east to Southampton and beyond, as well as the car ferry service to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, the town combines practicality with pleasure; the perfect work-life balance. There are many excellent schools and a wealth of local sports, clubs and leisure activities.
